The Protestant Hour
Protestant Radio and Television Center
This is the 40th anniversary year of The Protestant Hour, produced in Atlanta by the Protestant Radio and Television Center and supported financially by the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A., the United Methodist Church, the Lutheran Church in America, and the Episcopal Church. During these years The Protestant Hour has never asked for donations of support or made a fund appeal over the air. More than 2000 messages by leaders of the four denominations have been presented on what began first as a live distribution network and later was distributed on discs, reel-to-reel tape, audio cassettes, and now is being transmitted worldwide by satellite. Since 1952 The Protestant Hour has been carried by the American Forces Radio and Television Services outlets numbering almost 1500. The member of radio stations carrying the program has varied, reaching a high of 590 in 1969. For consistently high standards both in the technical and the programming sense, a Peabody Award to The Protestant Hour.
