These probing documentaries tie the very tenets of photography—issues of framing and subject matter, say—to broader questions about visibility, representation, and advocacy with aplomb. For its expansive and eye-catching vision of the artistry of photography—for showing us that photos are made, not merely taken—and reminding us, in turn, of the importance of bearing witness to the world around us, Photographer wins a Peabody award.
