China `72: A Hole in the Bamboo Curtain

Viewers of WWL-TV were able to see an outstanding program filmed by the first non-network American television news team allowed in China since 1949. The results of that timely and exceptionally well-done operation brought viewers a meaningful look at China and its people and it did much to begin some measure of understanding between the two nations. To the WWL-TV management, to Phil Johnson and to all others who played a part in this fine effort, a 1972 Peabody Award, the second to this exceptional station.
