ABC Afterschool Specials

ABC-TV

A George Foster Peabody Award for presenting an outstanding series of hour-long specials, which successfully focused upon the interests and concerns of young people. The series varied both in format and content. Programs ranged from animated excursions into the field of ecology to live-action drama to in-depth sociological studies. Each “Special” was indeed just that. It brought fresh insight and knowledge to a group which has already had considerable television exposure and it did it with clarity and excellence. *Installments televised in 1972 included The Last of the Curlews and Santiago’s Ark.
