Personal Award: Morley Safer Personal Award for Television News

In a year when the war in Vietnam dominated the news, the reports of correspondent Morley Safer were marked by journalistic integrity and honesty, sensitivity and forcefulness. Complaints from home viewers and governmental officials for bringing the ugly facts of the war in Southeast Asia to television were, in a sense, recognition that his reporting was objective, impartial, and accurate.
